Destinación Suiza de la UNESCO
Switzerland’s wealth lies in its cultural heritage and its wonderfully varied natural landscapes. From this wealth of treasures UNESCO has picked out the ten most valuable gems, and acknowledged them as World Heritage.
Custodian of peace. Some things are so valuable that all of humanity should watch over them: exceptionally beautiful cities, landscapes and cultural assets, for example. And peace, too. “Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed.”
Such is the central idea behind UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, founded in 1945. Its highest goal is the safeguarding of peace. It also manages the World Heritage of humanity, both cultural and natural.
