Die ulmiate gudie

Light haze plunging calm rivers in pastel colors. Extensive roofs protect powerful Emmental  farmhouses. And the geraniums in front of the windows are redder than anywhere else in the world. Gentle hills descend from the foothills of the Gürbetals and Schwarzenburgerlands into the plains of the Laupenamt and  Seeland , in the north the Jurakamm greets over  BielerseeSolothurn , Olten and  Oberaargau  . The prosperity of the villages is reflected in the cities: thick walls, arcades, alleys, animated by wells with figures that tell of a sonorous past. Time seems to slow down here: „Nume nid g’schprängt“ is still Bern’s motto Even if the European high-speed trains TGV, ICE and Pendolino make their daily rendezvous here. Take some time for the Swiss Mittelland, because here you have time for you!

How to get there:  The Swiss Mittelland can be easily reached by car or by rail from the border or the Swiss airports in one to two hours. Flight: Airport Bern-Belp with international connections. Train: Direct connection to the international rail network, including TGV, ICE, Pendolino and EC trains. Car: Motorway junction Bern, connection E4, Swiss Mittelland left and right of the national road A1.

Accommodation and food:  As varied as the Swiss Mittelland – so diverse is the hotel and restaurant trade. Many restaurants offer local specialties. Cozy inns and charming hotels in every price range – in rural or urban surroundings – invite you as well as cozy campsites or a holiday home in the countryside. And how about eventful days on a farm?
